Hello Tenacious! This post aims to provide a clear outline of expectations, guidelines, and some hopefully helpful suggestions to our Raid Tanking roster. A quick note, these are ALL SUGGESTIONS. Tenacious does not have hard requirements and we will not be gatekeeping if you don't follow every point. That said, in the end, we want to kill bosses and if we have to choose between a teammate who is optimised vs one who is not, we will make the choice that best progresses the guild. The First change is we are adjusting the spec declaration for tank warriors from “Prot” to “MT or OT” This will align better with our loot priority system, as well as correct a misnomer that all tanks have to be prot! You can declare OT as an Enh Shaman or Bear Druid though the bulk of this post is geared towards Warriors. Secondly, if you are a druid and reading this post, please reach out to myself or Moxei and we will provide you with the appropriate literature. We love bears, would love to have one some day. I’m thinking of Tanking! What should I do? That’s awesome! Hopefully this guide covers most of your questions, but the main things are getting your talents and your gear in order, Learning about threat(Here), tanking rotations and flight mechanics is also a must! Roster Right now we have two Main Tanks(MT). Grabendash (JKyle) and Surgemonkey. We are not putting a hard cap on our roster of Off Tanks (OT) because attendance can very. Molten core can require as many as 5 tanks, and we will be looking at seperate raid teams when the 20 man raids come out. The bottom line: The best way to get tank gear from raids is to show up and declare as OT. Spec https://classic.wowhead.com/talent-calc/warrior/-05050005505010051-502501105 This is an example of the spec we would like our Off tank warriors to use. Deep prot is a great spec IF you are going to be using a shield the vast majority of boss fights. For most off tanks, especially come Phase 3, OTs will be DPSing for a good portion of the boss fights. This will both give you a viable tanking spec while also increasing overall raid damage. This build gives up very little in terms of raw survivability, which can be more than made up for by wearing full mitigation on fights where threat is not an issue. If you prefer to use 2H weapons when DPSing, simply move the 5 points from Imp. Dual Wield into Imp. Execute/Imp. Cleave Gear Now this is where it gets tricky. The way classic works, tanks need to have a balance of Mitigation gear and Threat gear that fluctuates as the raid phase progresses. Tanks have a very specific and clearly defined BIS list that we use when building gear priority. Found Here. There are lists for both mitigation and threat so any gear you see from either list be sure to roll on! Listen to the Raid Heal Leader for when to swap into mitigation/threat gear Some key gear pieces that we would like tanks to have that do take some effort to get Hit Cap For Orcs, 6% everyone else 9% Whatever gear you have, nothing is more important than getting hit capped first. There are ways to optimize it but in the end, sometimes things don't drop. Be sure to always save gear with hit on it so you can move them around when you get other upgrades Lionheart Helm This is a pain to get but so very worth it! It will last you through several phases of content. There are several crafters on our server and most of them charge 0-100g to craft it Savage Gladiator Chain (SGC) This is a heck of a grind, but the good news is it’s not bad gold per hour while you’re doing it. The trick is to make sure you’re the only warrior who needs it in your group! This can also be farmed concurrently with HoJ Hand of Justice This is another rng gated drop, but not nearly as bad as SGC thankfully. This trinket will also last you quite a while Draconian Deflector/The Immovable Object DD from UBRS and Object from AV rep. Both are good shields, so it’s preference on what you’d rather grind. That said AV rep has many good items! Weapons Annihilator-The guild will help you out with building these, just let us know you’re working on one! Great tank axe for warriors, and the debuff is super valuable for the raid. Frostbite Axe-Requires Revered with AV but a great axe for Orc tanks Cho’Rush’s Blade-From the mage at the end of DMN. Be sure to let you group know you need to kill him! Mirah’s Song-Standard starting tanking sword from Scholo questline, great because it works in the off hand as well Nightfall-While not a tanking weapon per sae, the OTs will be responsible for stacking and maintaining the debuff it provides on fights they are not actively tanking. Rotation This section i’m going to be a bit more direct. There is a right and a wrong way to push your buttons. We aren’t Mages, please push your buttons correctly. Open-Boodrage>Bloodthirst/Shield Bash(if no/low rage auto>Sunder) Taunt ONLY if someone else pulled the mob Revenge when up BT/SB when up Sunder to 5/maintain HS to dump rage Shield block to trigger Revenge when BT/SB is on CD Taunt when Zid pulls aggro As far as cooldowns, recklessness if by far your most valuable one. It’s a good way to make sure you keep aggro, as well as a good dps boost. At this point our healer corps are strong enough that shield wall is seldom if ever needed. When you use Last stand be sure to announce it to your healer so they know to expect a drop in hp Thank you for your efforts! I will remind everyone to never hesitate to reach out to an officer if you need a hand (of justice!) with anything listed above. The raid Kills or Wipes with it’s tanks so we are always happy to help!
