The following is a clarification and reiteration of the existing loot system that we've been using.
Note that there are no changes here to the points system, this is meant to clarify the existing system.
There is a small change to the protocol for handing out loot during raids to improve communication and clarity.
The goals for the system are to reward raid attendance while also preventing members from building up insurmountable point leads in which it would be impossible for new raiders to make progress

    Loot System: Modified Suicide Kings

Loot protocol WILL NOT CHANGE MID RAID

We are always open to changes or suggestions, but they must be done in an open way that all raiders have a chance to review and provide input for.

All raid drops are reviewed and given a Best In Slot (bis), Priority, or Open status. This list is presented to the guild for review before each phase change that affects BiS.

    • Best in Slot means this is the best item you can get for this slot. These items always cost points

    • Priority means the class/spec with priority will get the first opportunity to spend points or roll on said item

    • Open means anyone who can equip the item can roll or spend points on it.

Raiders gain points to spend on items by attending raids and staying to the end. Points are divided into Weapon Points (to be spent on weapon slot items) and Armor Points (to be spent on armor, trinkets and rings). Points are spent on BiS items, or as a “trump card” if an item goes to roll. Points do not change the priority on an item. When you spend points for an item, your point total for that category will go to 0

Points are awarded at the start of a raid, and end of raid. If the raid night is going long, we will take attendance at the scheduled end time (typically 12AM server time) and award points then. At that point any raiders may leave if they need to with no penalty.

Points are divided into Phase 1 points (Onxia/Molten Core) and Phase 3 Points (Black Wing Lair)
    • Attending a Phase 1 raid will award 1 Phase 1 armor and weapon point and 1 Phase 3 armor and weapon point at the start, and another set at the end of the raid.

    • Attending a Phase 3 raid will award 1 Phase 3 armor and weapon point at the start and end of the raid.

    • Phase 1 Points can be spent in MC/ONY
Phase 3 Points can be spent in BWL with the following exception: Dagger Rogues may spend BWL points in MC to roll on Daggers only.
When an item drops, the Loot Master will loot the items and announce when they begin distribution. Loot pauses will happen after Gehennis, Garr, Shazzrah, Majordomo and Ragnaros. As we progress through BWL we will find spots that work for us to pause for loot there.

While the loot master may hold on to items from multiple bosses, loot will always be distributed in the order of bosses downed.

Loot Master will /rw the item up next and announce what classes/spec if any have priority and if an item is BiS. If you intend to spend points, you must X in raid chat BEFORE Loot Master moves the item to OS/Open Status roll. Players will be given ~15 seconds to X up, or communicate their interest. This is by no means a hard timer. If players need more time or have a quick question regarding the item, feel free to speak up.

Loot assignment will look similar to the following

/rw [Thunderfurry, Blessed Blade of The Memeseeker] non bis Prio sword rogues

(Any priority classes/specs can now x or /roll. BiS items always cost points)

if no X's then: /roll for OS

    Headpool rolls 32 (1-100)

    Kenne rolls 1 (1-100)

    Closed, grats whoever

If you win a BoE item you MUST equip it.

Crafting materials such as lava/magma cores, core leather and Elementium ore are collected and stored in the guild bank for guild crafting purposes. If you have need of any of these items, please let an officer know and we will make sure you have what you need!

Greens/blues are DE’d/sold for guild funds unless you would like one (for use!) then we will have all interested players /roll

At the Officer's discretion, the guild may opt to assign TANK gear (bis or otherwise) to DPS warriors who we ask to tank fights for the sake of progression

As a quick addon in reference to things I said on Monday's raid.

I was incorrect on the specific interactions I was talking about with respect to using points or not on items with a class/spec priority but that are not BiS.

I apologize because I think that caused additional confusion and made things get resolved much slower.

Just to clarify, does this mean that an item that a group has priority on can be either x’d or rolled for before anyone outside that group has an opportunity for it? As a follow up, if the priority group chooses not to x up and rather chooses to spend points, then can that group then roll and get the item for free before anyone outside that group has the opportunity to get it even if the outsider wants to use points?

    1. Correct. For example: All prot warriors would get a chance to x or roll on drillborer disk (a non bis shield) before any other warriors had the opportunity.
    2. Again correct. to use the shield as an example: a prot warrior would be able to roll on the drillborer disk and get it for no points regardless of if a dps warrior was willing to spend points or not. points do not change the priority on an item. If all prot warriors were to pass, a DPS could then choose to x up to spend points on the shield

I think the implication behind this question is that groups of people could somehow coordinate to get a lot of loot for free. Keep in mind though that this only for non best in slot loot so nobody is ever getting the crazy high value items for free.
Also the priority for items is hopefully setup such that it's only given when there is a clear benefit to having it go to a certain class/spec first. Looking back at it there may be a few items which are incorrectly not labelled BiS, so I need to probably do a pass over and see. If there's any items in the phase 3 loot sheet which look clearly incorrectly labelled let us know and we can give it a look over. you can also mark the "question" column next to any items that seem like they might be wrong.
